To increase awareness of the suffering of many children in the world and to recognize that they are our future.
A world in which children are allowed to grow with love, respect and dignity.
We aim to raise awareness of the silent struggles faced by vulnerable children through storytelling, education, and advocacy.
This work chronicles the life of Harold Greene, an innocent child who became a convicted felon. While fictionalized, the account is true, based on Children Services reports, newspaper articles, police logs, court records, family interviews, and Harold’s prison journal. Incarcerated for more than 25 years, in prison Harold met psychiatrist, Dr. Janice Greaves. The intertwining of their lives was to change them both.
To Harold, the meeting with Dr. Greaves was fortuitous, portraying to him a calmness and stability which he craved. For Dr. Greaves, the sessions with Harold started her, unexpectedly, on her own journey of healing. She was unprepared for the impact he would have on her life as the sessions began to uncover buried pain of her own past.
The sessions between Harold and Dr. Greaves slowly changed them both while demonstrating the power of the human spirit, both its failures and its victories.
Names in the book have been changed to allow privacy for Harold’s remaining family and out of respect for his young victim.
It was in prison that Harold found the courage to look inward for answers. Dr. Greaves, with commitment to their parallel journeys, found answers of her own.
This narrative is to give a voice to the voiceless … the many children who want love.
